Competition win - Philharmonie de Paris Concert Hall
Marshall Day Acoustics has won the architectural competition for the new 2,400 seat concert hall in Paris.
The Mayor of Paris and the Minister of Culture have just announced that Atelier Jean Nouvel with Marshall Day Acoustics, have won the architectural competition for the new 2,400 seat concert hall in Paris. The selection of a design team for the Philharmonie de Paris, one of the most important cultural buildings proposed this century, was conducted as a two stage competition. In the first stage 98 architects and associated consultants submitted credentials to undertake the design.
Six were selected, including the eminent French architect Jean Nouvel. He had invited Marshall Day Acoustics Ltd to join his team as acousticians. Harold Marshall and Christopher Day spent two weeks in Paris in January, developing the design in intensive workshop sessions with the architects and other consultants.
On April 5th 2007 it was announced that the Jean Nouvel/Marshall Day design had won the competition, that the expected cost is 200 million Euro, and completion is expected in 2012.
