The newly developed Auckland Art Gallery has become the first New Zealand building to win the Royal Institute of British Architects International Award for Architectural Excellence. The project also recently won the the supreme award, the New Zealand Architecture Medal, at the NZ Architecture Awards.
The British honour is given to just 12 buildings a year and recognises some of the world's most imaginative, dramatic and green projects.
Marshall Day Acoustics was the acoustic consultant on this FJMT + Archimedia designed project and our work included the room acoustics design of the atrium and gallery spaces, sound isolation between critcial areas and mechanical services noise control. Marshall Day Acoustics has previously collaborated with FJMT on The Concourse in Sydney and Auckland University Business School.
