Con Wassilieff
Con Wassilieff is an Associate with the Wellington office specialising in sound insulation, building services and industrial noise control
After obtaining a Ph.D. in physics, Con spent nine years as a scientist in the Acoustics and Vibration Section of the DSIR's Physics and Engineering Laboratory where his work included development and operation of acoustical test facilities and equipment, research and acoustical consulting in general. Con joined Marshall Day Associates in 1989 to run their Wellington practice
Con's experience includes sound insulation advice for apartments and commercial premises, acoustical design of music schools and auditoriums, and noise control design for commercial and industrial buildings. He has served as a member of the technical committee revising the NZ Building Code for airborne and impact sound.
Con's work also involves preparation and presentation of expert evidence for Council and Environment Court hearings, measurement and assessment of noise from electrical substations and power plants, and general industrial noise measurement, assessment and control.
Con is well known in the industry for his ability to quickly produce innovative, elegant and cost-effective noise control solutions for building services systems, both in design and in-situ. This has been applied to IT-intensive environments such as the Weta Digital computing centre, and to the building services and sound insulation of Park Road Post Productions.
Con spends his spare time developing radio communication modes and writing computer programs.
Recent project experience includes:
:: North Island Grid Upgrade - power line noise prediction and assessment.
:: Wellington Regional Hospital - room acoustics, sound insulation and mechanical services noise control design.
:: Park Road Post Production - Sound insulation and mechanical services noise control design.
:: Chews Lane Development - Apartment and office sound insulation.
