Laurel Smith is a Senior Consultant with the Auckland office, specialising in environmental noise control and building acoustics.

Laurel joined Marshall Day Acoustics in 2002 after completing a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Auckland and an initial career in manufacturing and heavy industry. 

Since 2004, Laurel has focussed on environmental noise control for airports while maintaining an interest in other aspects of environmental and building acoustics.  The airport work that Laurel undertakes includes airport noise modelling, measurement of aircraft noise, assessment of noise effects, implementation of planning provisions, sound insulation design and ongoing noise management work. 

Laurel also has experience in building acoustics with projects such as apartment buildings and office fit-outs.
