Malcolm Dunn

Malcolm Dunn is an Associate with the Auckland office, specialising in building design and room acoustics.

Malcolm joined Marshall Day Acoustics in 1997 after graduating from the University of Auckland with a degree in Engineering (Electrical and Electronic). 

In 2001 Malcolm went to live in Europe where he worked as a Senior Consultant with BDP Acoustics in London before travelling to Darfur in the Sudan where he worked as a Project Manager for Swiss NGO Medair.  Malcolm returned to New Zealand and to Marshall Day in 2004.

Malcolm has extensive experience in building acoustics, including the design of schools, recording studios, court rooms, apartments and tertiary education facilities.  This work has included room acoustics design, sound insulation and mechanical services noise control.

Recent project experience includes:

:: Digipost Studios - Full acoustic design including internal room treatment, sound insulation and mechanical services noise control for Dolby certified audio suites.

:: Wintec Student Hub - acoustic design of a student services area incorporating a multipurpose function/seminar space and teaching spaces along with information services and café.

:: Parnell College - acoustic design of a new private secondary school in central Auckland.

:: Auckland Art Gallery Refurbishment - Internal treatment, sound insulation and mechanical services control for a major gallery refurbishment and redevelopment.

Malcolm's spare time interests include writing, performing and recording music.  He also enjoys mountain biking and playing tennis.
