Stuart Camp
Stuart Camp is a Principal of the company, with responsibility for managing the Christchurch office.
Stuart's broad experience and pragmatism ensure that he is in constant demand for presenting evidence at council and Environment Court hearings. Stuart has experience in many project sectors including building acoustics, performing arts, and environmental noise. In recent years, he has strengthened the company's work in acoustic policy and planning areas, and has been responsible for developing our market in the marine noise control arena.
Stuart first joined Marshall Day Acoustics as a graduate in 1983, forming a core part of what was then our only office in Auckland. In 1991, he moved overseas to establish an office for the company in Kuala Lumpur. After 5 years in Malaysia, he returned to New Zealand, and set up the Christchurch office in 1997.
Major achievements; Jazz Music School at Christchurch Polytechnic; redevelopment of College of Education auditorium, Dunedin; detailed design of National Theatre complex for Kuala Lumpur; a 12,000 seat Indoor Stadium; acoustical design of television studio complex; development of District wide noise rules for Ashburton; preparation of frost fan noise rules for Hurunui District Council; acoustical design of numerous award-winning luxury motor yachts; reverse sensitivity guidelines for rail noise.
Stuart was the founding editor of New Zealand Acoustics, the Journal of the New Zealand Acoustical Society in 1988, a role he again assumed from 2000 till 2008. He has also served as the president of Christchurch Squash Club for 3 years, and played C-grade representative squash. In his spare time, Stuart is a sculptural wood turner.
