AIRPORT NOISE MONITORING

Marshall Day Acoustics has developed a high level of expertise in all aspects of airport noise management and measurement and has carried out work for a variety of major international and regional airports in New Zealand, Australia and South East Asia.

Our experience with measuring airport noise and preparing noise contours provides us with a unique understanding of the variations between modelled and monitored noise levels and methods for handling such variations.

Frequently, statutory compliance conditions require the monitoring of airport and heliport noise.  Marshall Day Acoustics can undertake on-site measurement programmes both in the short term and at semi-permanent monitoring sites and can prepare airport specific software for predictive compliance monitoring of engine testing and operational noise.

Marshall Day has developed a semi-permanent monitoring system specifically for airports.  The system offers excellent flexibility for all aspects of noise monitoring, with the ability to be set up in many different locations as well as offering remote access facilities.  The ease with which the system can be deployed ensures the smooth implementation of a  comprehensive noise monitoring program with wide area coverage.  Event recognition is facilitiated through 'smart' system software, which includes the ability for full audio recording for post-events analysis.

The system can be used as an aid for the assessment of any number of potential operational scenarios and is often used as a verification tool alongside noise modelling.

This noise monitoring service is provided using the latest Bruel & Kjaer airport noise monitoring unit, this sytem has been successfully implemented at Christchurch International Airport, Paraparaumu Airport and Queenstown Airport.

Marshall Day Acoustics can also provide custom-made software solutions for airports to self-manage noise emissions.  Previous examples include Nelson Airport and Hamilton Airport Engine Testing.
