The Academy in Abbey Street opened in 2008 and has already established itself as one of Dublin's busiest live music venues.  The Academy forms an important element within MCD Promotions list of high profile venues in Dublin.  More information can be found here.

Extensive acoustic testing was undertaken by Marshall Day Acoustics in the existing performance space.  The venue was found to be excessively reverberant, making it unsuitable for amplified music.  As part of a new sound system install in early 2008, a schedule of acoustic treatments was prepared for the space.  It was deemed necessary to install in excess of 275sq.m of sound absorptive treatments.

Tests undertaken post installation show that the Reverberation Time (rate of sound decay) has been reduced from 1.4 seconds to 0.7 seconds.  This has resulted in a major improvement in clarity for reproduced sound and feedback from mixing engineers has been excellent.
