THE GREENHOUSE, PORT TARANAKI OFFICES, New Zealand
Marshall Day Acoustics assisted in the acoustic design for Taranaki's largest 5 star green building.
The new Port Taranaki offices provided a range of acoustic challenges; high external noise levels from Port associated activities, combined passive and mechanical ventilation and multiple occupancies. The offices must be able to be completely self sufficent in the event of emergencies to ensure the safe operation of the Port. This emergency operation has been designed so that it can occur without disturbance of the nearby houses which overlook the building and Port Taranaki area.
The movement of trains immediately adjacent to the building site was assessed at the feasibility stage and incorporated into the structural design.
Marshall Day Acoustics has worked closely with all disciplines in order to ensure a 5 green star building accreditation can be achieved within budget and with a quality acoustic environment for the occupants and visitors.
