WA Draft Renewable Energy Planning Code

Industry Briefing Note - MARCH 2026

The Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) has released a draft Renewable Energy Planning Code (draft Code) and associated Guidelines for public consultation. The draft Code proposes significant changes to the planning, assessment, and regulation of wind farm noise in Western Australia.

The intent of the Code is to provide a clear and consistent development assessment framework for energy infrastructure, with an initial focus on wind farm developments.

We’ve prepared the attached briefing note to highlight the noise implications of the draft Code.
