Miklin is an Associate with the Wellington office specialising in studio and concert hall acoustics, environmental noise control, underwater acoustics, and wind farm noise assessment.

Since graduating from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering, Miklin worked in France developing software for concert hall acoustic modelling, and in Auckland’s Acoustic Testing Service as a test officer. He also spent several years surveying the acoustics of concert halls throughout New Zealand and elsewhere and studying audience acoustic preferences in a simulated concert hall environment he designed at the University of Auckland.

Miklin joined Marshall Day Acoustics in 2000, where he quickly became involved in studio design, wind farm consenting, industrial environmental noise assessment, classroom and lecture space design, and is regularly called upon to lecture in acoustics at Victoria University.

He is also regularly involved with the review of Standards and codes. He was a member of the most recent New Zealand Building Code G6 review, served as chairman of the New Zealand Standard 6801 and 6802 (sound measurement and assessment) revision in 2008 and was a member of the NZS 6808 (wind farm noise) Standards committee.

Miklin divides the remainder of his time between his two young daughters, music production, and the running of a small farm property at the fringes of Wellington.
