The Sound of Vibrancy: Navigating New Noise Regulations for Licenced Premises in NSW
There have been a lot of changes in the way noise from licensed premises and entertainment venues are assessed in NSW in the last 2 years. The Vibrancy Reforms and introduction of Special Entertainment Precincts have been the most significant. There is a lot of uncertainty in the industry about how planners and developers should proceed, how councils will consent (and enforce consents) and how the Land & Environment Court NSW will respond.
We have written an overview of the changes and their implications to assist our clients dealing with the new regulations. It is important for the acoustic community to collaborate and share learning to help develop approaches that successfully balance a vibrant night-time economy with community amenity.
We will be presenting on the topic at the Australian Acoustical Society Conference this November and Matthew is keen to hear feedback from people working with the changes.
