Our Scope
Marshall Day Acoustics was responsible for preparing a detailed noise model of the facility and various activities using the track, assisting with permanent noise logger placement, and providing ongoing noise-related advice as required.
CHALLENGES
Race cars generate varying levels of noise at different locations around a track, leading to a range of complex and variable noise sources. This made it challenging to prepare an accurate noise model. To address this, we performed detailed noise measurements at multiple locations on and around the track over several days to capture noise data from a variety of race cars around the circuit.
We then developed variations of our noise model based on the categories of race cars, number of vehicles competing, and event duration. The permanent noise logger, installed close to the track at Highlands, was used to calibrate this model. Ultimately, this noise model allows us to predict noise from a wide range of activities, including day-to-day hot laps and driver training through to international endurance motorsport events.
“We’ve enjoyed a collaborative relationship with Marshall Day for over a decade. Their team are knowledgeable, pragmatic and solution orientated. They are excellent at taking a very complex set of issues and breaking it down into layman terms to enable a robust and workable environment.”
