Our Scope
Marshall Day Acoustics was the trusted noise and vibration consultant for New Zealand’s most significant public transport project. We provided noise and vibration expertise for 14 years spanning route selection to project completion.
Consenting Phase
MDA prepared the noise and vibration effects assessment for the construction and operation of CRL. We presented expert evidence at three hearings, including the Notice of Requirement and subsequent appeals phase through the Environment Court.
Reference Design Phase
MDA informed the specification for the station acoustics, public address sound systems and mechanical services. The objective was to ensure CRL patrons enjoy a comfortable station environment and can clearly understand public address announcements.
Construction Phase
MDA supported the Link Alliance contractor to the two main construction sites at Waitematā Station (Britomart) and Maungawhau Station. We prepared the construction noise and vibration management plans, led extensive community consultation, site training and continuous monitoring of site works.
CHALLENGES
The CRL Project presented unique challenges, particularly in managing construction impacts on highly sensitive acoustic environments like recording studios, hotels, and residences. Successfully addressing critical noise and vibration issues during the demanding consenting stage was paramount. Our expertise was instrumental in expert consultation and securing the consent needed to advance this project.
