Le Top Performing Arts Centre

Formerly a cinema recognised for its emblematic façade and contribution to the urban heritage of Digne-les-Bains, this project involved the rehabilitation of the building into a flexible cultural venue of approximately 1,500 m². The transformation preserves façades of heritage interest while adapting the interior to support a broad cultural programme.

Designed to host theatre, music and dance performances, as well as film screenings, the venue operates as a hybrid and modular “third place” dedicated to artistic creation and community use. The project was led by architect Matthieu Poitevin, founder of Va Jouer Dehors.

The Hall

The main performance hall has a floor area of approximately 340 m² and can accommodate up to 900 people in a standing configuration. The hall is designed to support a wide range of uses, including amplified music, theatre, live performance and screenings.

A combination of fixed and mobile bleachers allows the space to be reconfigured to suit difference event formats, with seating capacities of approximately 300-350 people. The adaptable stage and audience arrangements enable varied relationships between performers and audiences, supporting both large-scale and more intimate events.
