La Voile, Rouen's Congress Center
The future Rouen Metropolitan Convention Center, named “La Voile” is an ambitious project led by the Rouen Normandy Metropolis.
This building will cover 11,500 m² at the heart of the Lapeyre and will symbolize the renewal of the Seine riverbanks. Its undulating roof, reminiscent of boat sails, will echo Rouen’s riverside landscape, while its wooden structure and façades will evoke the local tradition of half-timbered houses.
The program will include 2,500 m² of exhibition space, a 1,000-seat auditorium that can be combined with a 400-seat plenary hall, eight meeting rooms, and a reception area capable of hosting up to 1,400 guests.

CHALLENGES
The project presents significant challenges in delivering exceptional acoustic performance within a multifunctional building. The auditorium, designed to host everything from concerts and performances to conferences and exhibitions, demands a sophisticated acoustic design that meets the requirements of these various functions.
Achieving adequate sound insulation between spaces is crucial, to allow for simultaneous use of quiet and noisy activities while protecting the building from external noise, particularly from the nearby highway. To address this, the auditorium is strategically positioned at the heart of the building, surrounded by technical areas that provide a natural barrier against external noise.
This spatial organisation, combined with bespoke construction solutions, ensures a high level of comfort and flexibility throughout the complex.
