Oran Park Leisure Centre is a premier community facility featuring an 50m indoor heated pool, a leisure pool with a toddler area and water attractions, and a dedicated program pool. Additional amenities include a fully equipped gym and group fitness studios, a four-court sports stadium, crèche, café, and multipurpose rooms.

Our Scope
Marshall Day Acoustics provided full acoustic design services for the project. This included environmental impact assessment, acoustic separation between spaces, room acoustics, reverberation control, and both internal and external mechanical services noise control.
CHALLENGES
Controlling reverberation and noise build-up is a significant challenge in modern sports facilities, particularly in large-volume spaces like pool and sports halls. At Oran Park Leisure Centre, the aquatic area combines a lap pool, leisure pool and water play features within a single open void, while the sports area houses four courts within one large hall.
These expansive spaces made effective reverberation control particularly difficult, requiring extensive acoustic treatment. To optimise performance and efficiency, MDA used advanced 3D acoustic modelling, typically reserved for performing arts venues, to precisely target the type, extent and placement of treatments. This allowed us to minimise the treated area while still achieving the desired acoustic outcomes.
