Te Uru Waitakere Contemporary Gallery & Lopdell House Refurbishment
Te Uru Waitakere Contemporary Gallery is West Auckland’s regional gallery, delivering a diverse programme of contemporary exhibitions, events and activities, designed to reflect and strengthen the full diversity of cultural identities, interests and potential of its community.
The gallery first opened in 1986 as Lopdell House Gallery, sited in the historic Lopdell House in the heart of Titirangi.

THE PROJECT
From 2012, an extensive redevelopment programme commenced, comprising:
Lopdell House
A historic building refurbishment, dating from 1935, including:
A small performing arts venue, Titirangi Theatre, located in the basement of Lopdell House, seating approximately 80 patrons
Conversion of the old gallery spaces above ground into a high-end restaurant and commercial office space.
Waitakere Contemporary Gallery
Construction of a new modern art gallery building adjoining Lopdell House.
OUR SCOPE
Marshall Day Acoustics provided acoustic design advice for the small performing arts theatre and commercial fitout in Lopdell House, and the room acoustics and building services for Waitakere Contemporary Gallery. An acoustic assessment to support the resource consent for the gallery was also prepared.
