An extension to the existing baggage hall to accommodate the increase in passenger travel to Auckland. It was considered that providing a comfortable acoustic environment at the end of a long haul flight was important for arriving passengers in order to maintain a relaxed, stress free atmosphere.
Incorporation of absorptive room treatment and a coordinated redesign of the air conditioning systems serving this space has achieved this design intent.
All these projects were undertaken with the airport remaining fully operational and careful coordination of the construction activities and development of appropriate noise and vibration mitigation measures were essential to minimising any disruption to passengers and staff.
